1746 Society Members Leave Lasting Legacies

Members of the 1746 Society are drawn from across the generations at Princeton—from the Class of 1925 to the Class of 2008. Each has expressed a deep and far-sighted commitment to the future of Princeton. Here, three Society members explain why they decided to create a legacy at Princeton.

A.C. Reeves Hicks ’46
A.C. Reeves Hicks ’46“I have always given to Annual Giving with the thought that my gift would enable the University to continue to support those special things that make it such a extraordinary institution—the talented students, the intelligent and caring faculty and administration, the contribution to my town in so many tangible ways and, not to be overlooked, the tremendous contribution Princeton makes to our nation and to the world. My bequest is made for the same reasons, and to remember the Class of 1946.”

S. Georgia Nugent ’73
S. Georgia Nugent ’73“Princeton is central in my estate plans because it has contributed so much to my life. As a college president, I recognize how deeply alumni can feel debts of gratitude to their alma mater. That is my experience. As a first-generation college student, I attended Princeton on full scholarship. This leads me to feel especially keenly the appropriateness of giving back, so that others can experience what was offered to me. My own affiliation with the University has taken many forms over many years: student, faculty member, administrator. Each of these has given me extraordinary opportunities for learning and has enriched my life. In my view, whatever I am able to give will never equal what Princeton has given me.”

President, Kenyon College
Former Dean and Associate Provost, Princeton University

John M. Chludzinski '85
John M. Chludzinski '85“I chose to support the Princeton University Class of 1985 Memorial Fund with a bequest. I have been fortunate to receive what I consider the greatest of gifts—an exceptional education. As the oldest of four children in a family of modest means, I would not have been able to study at Princeton without the generous financial support of the University’s alumni. Just as I received scholarship funds from alumni who preceded me, I will join their ranks through my bequest so that future generations of Princeton students will enjoy the intellectual rigor, academic excellence, and athletic opportunities that I did.”

John M. Chludzinski '85
Class Secretary, Class of 1985
Managing Partner, Kuker & Kessler Real Estate
