ReachOut 56 Program Supports Service Projects
Class of 1956 initiative funds yearlong post-graduation service
Reachout 56 fellowship recipientsSince 2002, ReachOut 56, an initiative supported by over 100 members of Princeton’s class of 1956, has provided funding for public service activities, including fellowships to graduating seniors.

This year’s fellowship recipients, Lillie Romeiser ’07 and Charles Staab ‘07, will each receive $25,000 toward a yearlong project of their choice. Romeiser, a religion major and certificate candidate in the Program in Teacher Preparation, will work with Anchored in Hope, a Chicago-based organization for developmentally disabled youth. Staab, a music major working toward certificates in music performance and French, will work with MIMA Music to bring music instruction to disadvantaged students in after-school programs in Philadelphia. Staab is a recipient of the William H. Cane Scholarship, for students from New Jersey.

"Since ReachOut 56 furnishes the funds to pay the fellow's living expenses during the year, we prefer to select organizations that wouldn't be able to afford the help otherwise," said James Freund ’56, who oversees the fellowship process. "We consider this an excellent means by which our financial contribution serves a real purpose, through the energetic efforts of a talented public-spirited graduate."
