Lawren Wu '92 Gives Collection of Rare Chinese Coins
Gift of over 2,000 coins will enhance the University Numismatic Collection
Chinese coinA collection of over 2,000 coins from ancient and medieval China was donated by alumnus Lawren C. Wu '92 and his mother Tung Ching Wu, in memory of his father, Souheng Wu.

The gift includes coins from the Tang, Sung, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as pieces from the non-Chinese dynasties of the 12th century and the Mongol Yuan Dynasty. "The Wu Collection is notable for the care with which it was assembled, with many examples that are extremely rare or notable for their subtle variations in calligraphy," said Alan Stahl, curator of the University Numismatic Collection, part of the Princeton University Library's Department of Rare Books and Special Collections.

Items from the collection are available to researchers in the University community and around the world, through the library's online numismatic database: www.princeton.edu/~rbsc/department/numismatics.
